Time, space for couple who lost child in Gombak quarters fall – Cops

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) — Police will provide some space for the parents of a three-year-old girl who fell to her death from the fourth floor of a teachers’ quarters in Gombak, near here yesterday before they record their statements over the tragic incident, in which the victim’s elder sister also suffered injuries.

Gombak district police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe said the couple had been given time to deal with their child’s death and to handle the burial arrangements.

Police would also record statements from the neighbours as part of the investigation, he said.

In the incident, the three-year-old girl was killed while her sister aged six was severely injured after they were believed to have fallen from the fourth floor of the quarters.

They were believed to have used a chair to climb over the balcony.

Police was informed that the children’s father had left the unit to fetch the youngest child, a seven-month-old baby, at the babysitter’s house located out of the quarters area, Arifai told a media conference at the Gombak district police headquarters today.

The elder sister, who broke both her legs and hands in the fall, is being treated at the Selayang hospital where she is reported to be in stable condition.

The siblings were found in an open area of the quarters at 5.30pm by their mother who had just returned from work.

Meanwhile, the victim’s body was brought to the Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gombak mosque for prayers before sent to Rantau Panjang, Kelantan for burial.
