Situation remains peaceful, do not speculate IGP

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said today that the situation in the country remains peaceful and warned the people not to make any speculation on the latest political developments that could disrupt the peace.

Abdul Hamid said he had been granted an audience by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today to brief His Majesty on the security situation in the country.

I had been at Istana Negara since this afternoon to brief the Tuanku on the situation in the country.

On the whole, the situation remains peaceful and calm. Tuanku has directed the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to maintain the peace and harmony in the country.

Police have not received any (reports of) threat so far. There are no issues that can spark fights among the people. PDRM will continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any untoward incidents, he told reporters after the audience at Istana Negara here.

He said police would act firmly to ensure that the democratic process continues to run smoothly.

Abdul Hamid urged the public to refrain from making speculation and spreading false news which could create public anxiety.

The democratic process is running well; Insyallah whatever decision that is made by Tuanku will be announced soon, he added.
