UTeM wins second place in International Website Contest

— The Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) wins second place in the Global Student Branch Website Contest 2020 organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) recently.

UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Raha Abdul Rahim said the university’s team comprising four students took home prize money worth US$500 (RM2058) and participation certificates.

“The achievement of the team known as ‘IEEE UTeM branch” shows that the university continues to enliven effective learning culture as well as instill creative and innovative learning concept among its students,” she said in a statement here today.

According to the team’s supervisor, Electrical Engineering Faculty lecturer, Assoc Prof Dr Chong Shin Horng said the team took two months to develop the website, starting from the application stage to adding, arranging and updating information in the website.

Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Peru won the online competition, which was participated by 25 institutes of higher learning worldwide while Universidade do Porto, Portugal secured the third place.
