Che Minah Sayang demonstrates her culinary skills

— Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today made a special appearance in a cooking show, Masters of Malaysian Cuisine (MOMC) aired at 6 pm Malaysian time.

Along with Chef Norman Musa and Melissa Feij from The Netherlands, Her Majesty shared her passion for cooking with a special Western cuisine for the royal family on new year’s eve.

Norman and Melissa, in a bid to promote Malaysian food to the world, cooked two dishes from Tunku Azizah’s recipe book – Opor Burung (braised quails in herbs and spices) and Ikan Garaman (salty fish in coconut gravy).

Meanwhile, the cheerful Tunku Azizah in her casual golden brown baju kurung made roast turkey with chestnut stuffing, roast beef, macaroni with cheese pie, cauliflower cheese, and trifle, all aired live from the Istana Negara’s kitchen,

The 90-minute programme was carried live on MOMC’s Youtube and Facebook account, co-hosted by Jackie M, a Malaysian born street food specialist residing in Sydney, Australia and Liam Ghani from Stanford, South Africa.

Other distinguished MOMC chefs include ‘That Rendang Lady’ Zaleha Kadir Olpin, Johari Edrus, Kalidevan Murugaya (Chef Dave) and renowned Malaccan chef, Debbie Teoh who were all present as guests on the show.

Her Majesty, who is fondly known as Che Minah Sayang, also has an Instagram account, airtangan_tunkuazizah with one million followers, a platform for her handmade dishes, both traditional and Western.
