— The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) kick-started the new year by encouraging the public to take on urban farming and growing their own food.
CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader today said that being able to grow one’s own food not only helps cut down the family’s expenses, but also being part of a movement to increase sustainability and resilience for the environment.
He also said that urban farming could also be a family activity and encourage the younger generations to have hands-on experience in growing their own food and plants.
“Urban farming can be easily done anywhere, whether you live in an apartment or on a landed property, all that matters is when you are going to take the initiative (to start urban farming),” he told reporters after launching the “Grow With CAP 2021” campaign today.
The month-long campaign also calls on the public to grow their plants by using green and creative ways to reuse waste, as well as to showcase on social media using the tag #GrowWithCAP2021.
