A man experienced a moment of terror when trees crashed down on top of his car at the parking lot of a hotel here last night.
Muhammad Hazli Harun, 27, when contacted by Bernama, said he was still in his car when the fallen trees hit his Proton Saga car which had just been parked at 9.30 pm.
“It was quite scary as the incident happened very quickly … I heard a loud bang on the roof of the car.
“Fortunately, I could still open the door … when I came out I saw two trees fell on top of my car,” he said.
Muhammad Hazli, from Gemas, Negeri Sembilan and arrived in Terengganu on Monday, managed to get out of his car which sustained dents in the roof and boot, but he was grateful that he escaped with no injuries.
Meanwhile, Chukai Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Zailani Abdullah, when contacted said that two cars, a Proton Saga and a Honda Accord, were involved in the incident which was caused by strong winds.
He said the station received an emergency call about the fallen trees at 9.49 pm and 11 firefighters and two vehicles were rushed to the scene.
“The operation to remove the fallen trees took an hour and assisted by personnel from the Kemaman Municipal Council (MPK),” he said.
