45 local coffee entrepreneurs to gather at maiden Penang Coffee Festival

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 30 (Bernama) — A total of 45 local coffee entrepreneurs will congregate at the ‘Pesta Kopi Pulau Pinang’ to promote their products to coffee aficionados in the northern region.

Coffee Festival founder Mohd Nasir Abdul Rashid said the festival received a very good response from coffee drinkers when it was held in Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.

“A total of 45 local coffee entrepreneurs nationwide will take part in the festival to be held at the Hin Bus Depot here on Dec 10-11 to promote their respective coffee brands by showing the proper brewing method.

“This time, we bring the festival to Penang to encourage edutourism,” he told reporters here today, adding that it was aimed at promoting the coffee culture among northerners and not just to sell their coffee products.

He said the public would have the opportunity to taste various brands of coffee, including Vietnamese coffee as well as strawberry and orange-flavoured ones.

“We expect about 5,000 to 10,000 people to flock to the festival, which is being held in Penang for the first time,” he said, adding that ‘Pesta Kopi Pulau Pinang’ is supported by the Tourism Ministry.
