Kuala lumpur: A total of 506 products under the Use of Local R and D Products and Services Programme (MySTI) have been approved for the use of the MySTI logo as of July, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang. Chang announced that starting from June 23, 2025, products and services bearing the MySTI logo will be prioritized in government procurement.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the implementation of MySTI is a strategic move by the government to propel the nation towards technological sovereignty and diminish reliance on foreign technology. The approved products and services are listed in the MySTI Inventory, accessible to the public via www.mysti.gov.my, with logo application registration currently free of charge. Chang made these remarks while closing the Effectiveness Programme for Dengue Vector Control Strategy.
Also in attendance were Boniface anak Edwin Manung, Secretary of the Technology Transfer and R and D Commercialisation Division at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and Associate Professor Dr Rahmat Dapari from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Earlier, MOSTI introduced the eco-friendly *Aedestech Mosquito Home System* (AMHS) by One Team Networks, used over a 24-week period from February to July.
Chang highlighted AMHS as an environmentally friendly vector control technology that effectively reduces Aedes mosquito populations. Before AMHS implementation, the Ovitrap Index (OI) was 45 percent in intervention areas and 39 percent in control areas. By the 22nd week, intervention areas saw a decrease to 44 percent, while control areas increased to 62 percent, showcasing AMHS’s effectiveness.
Chang noted that these findings underscore the efficiency of AMHS in curbing Aedes mosquito breeding, aligning with WHO’s recommended Ovitrap Index monitoring. MOSTI continues to support local technological advancements to tackle national issues, such as dengue. Technologies like AMHS demonstrate that research and innovation extend beyond academia, significantly contributing to public well-being.
