Ipoh: A total of RM250,000 from the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI charity fund was distributed to 800 students of various ethnicities from 18 schools in the Ipoh Barat parliamentary constituency. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced that the RM300 cash aid per student is intended to ease families' costs for learning materials and essentials ahead of the Chinese New Year and Ramadan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative, in collaboration with strategic partner Berjaya Cares Foundation, underscores the government's commitment to public welfare, ensuring no one is left behind. Nga emphasized that although it is the Chinese New Year, the support extends to Malay and Indian communities as well, highlighting the values of MADANI, which stand for compassion, mercy, unity, and harmony.
Nga, who also serves as the Kepayang state assemblyman, addressed reporters after the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI event held at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Bercham. The event was attended by Berjaya Group Berhad executive director Shashitharan Nair, Buntong state assemblywoman M. Thulsi, and Bercham state assemblyman Ong Boon Piow.
