Aaron-Wooi Yik Huff And Puff Their Way Into China Masters Last Eight


Kuala lumpur: National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik had to toil for more than an hour to defeat England’s Ben Lane-Sean Verdy and advance to the quarter-finals of the China Masters today. Former world champions Aaron-Wooi Yik battled for an hour and 12 minutes to bounce back from a first-game loss to clinch a 14-21, 21-15, 25-23 second-round victory over the English pair at the Shenzhen Arena.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, in the last eight tomorrow, Aaron-Wooi Yik will meet either compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun or Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana, who will slog it later tonight. The national women’s doubles pair had no trouble defeating American duo, Francesca Corbett-Jennie Gai, with a decisive 21-11, 21-8 victory in straight games. The world number two pair will now face Baek Ha Na-Lee So He of South Korea, who beat another Malaysian pair, Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting, 21-13.



In the men’s doubles, Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun failed to qualify for the quarterfinals after losing to Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana in a close match with scores of 21-19, 23-21, 21-14.
