Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi congratulated national women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah for their outstanding victory in clinching the 2025 Arctic Open title today. In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid said the win marked the duo’s second title this year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed his congratulations and acknowledged the duo’s achievement as their second title on the BWF World Tour this season. He lauded them as a source of national pride and an inspiration to all Malaysians.
Ahmad Zahid emphasized that the victory demonstrated how determination, strong discipline, and an unyielding fighting spirit could uplift Malaysia’s name on the world stage. He called on Malaysians to continue supporting their sports heroes and heroines, offering prayers and unwavering support for more victories. Pearly-Thinaah won the championship by defeating Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi with scores of 21-7, 21-9 in the finals.

Aaron-Wooi Yik concluded their Arctic Open campaign as runners-up after a hard-fought match against England’s Ben Lane-Sean Vendy, with scores of 18-21, 27-25, 17-21. Ahmad Zahid encouraged the duo to keep up their efforts and assured them of the nation’s support in their journey toward greater success.
