Kuala lumpur: The world views ASEAN as a region with huge potential, especially for entrepreneurs who are receiving strong support from both the public and private sectors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC) chairman Deborah Melissa Bottreau emphasized that the existence of a robust support ecosystem makes ASEAN a preferred choice for young entrepreneurs to expand their businesses. This stands in contrast to Europe, where there is a scarcity of opportunities and a tendency to pressure the younger generation into traditional sectors that demand high academic qualifications.
Bottreau highlighted that ASEAN offers abundant support and opportunities for young entrepreneurs to grow without the burdens of excessive bureaucracy. She shared these insights as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara program titled ‘Usahawan Muda Aset Pemacu Ekonomi ASEAN’. She urged young ASEAN entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities available, including participating in the ASEAN Entrepreneur Carnival. This platform gathers participants from the region and international partners to explore new possibilities in commerce and investment.
Local entrepreneur Chew Jon Kin, who also participated in the carnival, noted that the event allowed entrepreneurs like him to network and align their businesses with potential investors. This gathering aids in garnering the necessary support to elevate their businesses to new heights.
The two-day carnival, themed ‘Connecting ASEAN, Creating Global Change’, was co-organized by AYEC, the Malaysian Association of Young Entrepreneurs (MAYA), and the Malaysian Youth Council. It reflects the collective aspirations to build a borderless ecosystem aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs throughout Southeast Asia.
