KUALA LUMPUR: In light of the recent floods that have affected several states in Malaysia, member banks of the Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) are steadfast in their commitment to support and provide financial assistance to customers impacted by this natural disaster. According to BERNAMA News Agency, ABM member banks have activated comprehensive flood relief assistance programmes to aid affected customers, ensuring that those in need receive timely support. These programmes include deferment of loan and financing repayments to ease financial burdens, as well as waiving fees and charges for replacing lost or damaged bank documents and cards. Special financing facilities are also offered to help customers rebuild and recover from the flood damage. Moreover, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) impacted by the floods have the opportunity to apply for disaster relief facilities to help resume their business operations. The association advises flood-affected customers to contact their respective banks for detailed guidance on applying for flood relief assistance. ABM assures customers that member banks are implementing measures to ensure continued access to essential banking services. Notices with information on the nearest alternative branches will be posted at affected locations and on the banks' websites to assist with their banking needs.
