Bernama Triumphs with Five Wins at Perkeso 2025 Media Awards


Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) celebrated a significant achievement at the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Media Awards 2025 iLINDUNGu ceremony, securing five awards for their outstanding media contributions.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, the awards, now in their second edition, were presented by the Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, to honor media efforts in highlighting the expansion of Perkeso’s functions, focusing on social security and workers’ rights. The event underscored the critical role of the media in spreading awareness about these important issues.



Bernama Kelantan Bureau Chief Muhammad Afiq Mohd Asri received the Champion title for the Best News Portal Report with his article ‘Stroke Is Not the End: Azli Rises Again with Perkeso RTW’. Additionally, Bernama Kelantan Journalist Mohd Noor Iqram Rosli was named the Champion of the Best TV Report for ‘Perkeso, A Shield of Protection for Gig Workers, Balancing the Risks of the New Economy’. Both winners were awarded a cash prize of RM3,000, a trophy, and a certificate.



Further accolades for Bernama included second-place finishes in the Best Podcast Report category by Nor Hayati Yaakub, the Best News Portal Report category by Erda Khursyiah Basir, and the Best Digital Media Report category by Vishpani Kumar. Each received a cash prize of RM2,000, a trophy, and a certificate.



Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin expressed her pride in the team’s accomplishments, attributing the success to their dedication to delivering quality reports. She emphasized that the victories should serve as motivation for all members of the Bernama team to continue excelling in future media award endeavors.



Muhammad Afiq, one of the winners, shared his surprise and gratitude for the recognition, noting that his last-minute entry led to an unexpected triumph. His article, produced under the pressure of a deadline, marked his first award win in a journalism career spanning 13 years.



The 2025 awards attracted a total of 115 entries across eight competition categories, including Best Radio Report, Best Print Media Report, Best Photography Award, and the Anugerah Jasa Bakti (Service Award) for Companies and Individuals.
