Caraga wage board OKs P35 hike for minimum earners


MANILA: The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Caraga (Region 13) has approved a PHP35 increase in salaries of minimum wage workers.

In Wage Order No. RXIII-18 which was motu proprio issued on Dec. 5, 2023, increased the daily minimum wage of said workers in all sectors to PHP385.00

The increase will be given in two tranches — the initial PHP20.00 will be effective Jan. 1, 2024 while the second tranche amounting to PHP15.00 will be given on May 1, 2024.

The increase is expected to directly benefit 65,681 minimum wage earners in the region.

Aside from minimum wage earners in Region 13, Wage Order No. RXIII-DW-04 was also motu proprio issued increasing the monthly minimum wage of kasambahays by PHP1,000.

The monthly wage rate in the region will now be PHP5,000 which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2024.

Meanwhile, domestic workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) will be given an increase amounting to PHP500.00.

RTWPB NCR motu proprio issued Wage Order No. NCR-DW-04 on Dec. 12.
2023, increases the monthly minimum wage to PHP6,500. The wage adjustment will take effect on Jan. 3, 2024.

The salary increases for kasambahay in Caraga and NCR are expected to benefit a total of 256,476 domestic workers — approximately 57 percent (146,202) of whom are on live-in arrangements.
