‘DIVAS and DIAMONDS’ CONCERT FEATURING MALAYSIAN, INDONESIAN ARTISTES TO BOOST JOHOR TOURISM

JOHOR BAHRU, A concert billed as ‘Divas and Diamonds’, featuring artistes from Malaysia and Indonesia, is set to boost both domestic and international tourist arrivals to Johor, as part of the ‘Road to Visit Johor 2026’ promotional campaign.

The concert, organised by Mega Eve Sdn Bhd, will showcase a line-up including Indonesia’s Datuk Seri Rossa alongside local artistes such as Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Dayang Nurfaizah and Joe Flizzow. It will take place at Arena Larkin on Sept 7 at 8.30 pm, and is expected to attract an audience of 6,000.

Tourism Johor director Shahril Nizam expressed confidence that the presence of renowned artistes, from within and outside the country, will attract tourists from Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei and others, thereby giving Johor’s tourism sector a boost.

“We are heading towards ‘Visit Johor Year 2026’ (VJY 2026), so this year we have started the promotional campaign and this concert is one platform to promote Johor as a leading tourist destination,” he said..

“In fact, we hav
e already undertaken many promotional programmes before this but this concert is seen to have an impact as it involves international artistes who have their own fan base, so it will bring fans here, in addition to the visitors to the ‘Johor Majestic Festival’ scheduled for August,” he said.

Shahril said this to reporters at a press conference for the concert held at the Amari hotel here today.

Meanwhile, Mega Eve project director Aman Ali said the concert would serve as a platform to showcase local culture, as well as promote various attractions in Johor, and encourage visitors to explore the state for its food, resorts and other leisure activities.

In a separate development, Shahril shared that the state’s health tourism sector is expected to continue growing after positive feedback received during the ‘Welcome To Johor Travel Expo 2024’ programme held recently at the Grand Batam Mall.

“Tourism Johor organised a ‘Medical Health Tourism’ event in Batam from July 18 to 21, and many hospitals, including Reg
ency Hospital, Columbia Hospital, KPJ and Kensington Green Hospital, participated in our pavilion,” he said.

He noted that there was a good response from Indonesians and hospital participation was also encouraging.

“So, we are confident that this year more people will not only come to Johor for healthcare treatment but tourism too. With Johor’s tourism infrastructure such as at Johor Zoo being improved, things can only get better,” he added.

Tickets to the ‘Divas and Diamonds’ concert, priced from RM288 to RM1,288, can be purchased through the website www.ticket2u.com.my.
