Don’t Underestimate Technological Advancement And Talent Back Home, Says Anwar

London: Malaysians abroad should not underestimate the technological advancement, expertise, and talent available back home, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized that global investors have consistently recognized the technological mastery in Malaysia, leading many to reinvest after years of business engagement in the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted Infineon Technologies AG, Germany’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, as a key example. The company recently invested an additional six billion euros in Malaysia, citing the country’s expertise, technology, and talent as being on par with Germany. Anwar made these remarks during a dinner gathering with over 700 members of the Malaysian diaspora.

The Prime Minister noted that Malaysia hosts approximately 140,000 foreign students in its universities, attracted by the high educational standards. He also pointed out the success of Malaysian companies like YTL, Eco World, Sime Darby, and TNB in the United Kingdom, where they have secured projects through open tenders, largely due to their technological capabilities and skilled workforce.

Anwar further mentioned that Malaysian students studying in the UK or other countries have opportunities to remain and work abroad to gain experience and acquire new technologies. He revealed that the Public Service Department (JPA) is contemplating allowing scholars to stay overseas for learning purposes if they are not urgently needed back home.
