FAMA’s Agromarketing Masterclass With TikTok Shop Records RM4 Mln Sales.

KUALA LUMPUR: The five-month Agromarketing Masterclass programme jointly organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) that began in June managed to rake in sales of RM4 million, far exceeding the set target of RM3 million. According to BERNAMA News Agency, FAMA director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri stated that the programme included 160 participants from 80 companies, offering 425 agrofood products throughout its duration. The initiative achieved over 620,000 minutes of broadcasts and 3.5 million views, with e-commerce content produced gaining a total of 17 million views. Abdul Rashid expressed optimism that participants would continue to succeed on TikTok Shop in the future. The programme also saw the participation of 13 persons with disabilities (PwD), who generated sales of RM286,000 through 1,500 live sale sessions on TikTok Shop. Due to the programme's success, FAMA and TikTok Shop plan to organise it again in the second quarter next year to further assist entrepreneurs in expanding t heir businesses. Meanwhile, TikTok Shop Strategics Communications Director Nur Azre Abdul Aziz expressed hopes that similar programmes would help more entrepreneurs, particularly from small and medium industries, overcome challenges such as shyness in front of the camera. She highlighted the potential for reaching rural areas where entrepreneurs are engaging in live streaming directly from their farms. Wan Habsah Wan Ahmad, a participant known as Chef Ustazah HQ on TikTok Shop, won the Best Overall Entrepreneur award for her food products like nasi arab, sauces, and seasonings. Her success in the programme marked a significant achievement, as she transitioned from struggling with online marketing to achieving substantial daily sales. Former engineer Amir Mohsin Mohd Bahrudin, 35, was awarded the 2024 Live Streaming Grand Finals title due to his dedication to streaming up to 17 hours daily on TikTok Shop. Following an accident that left him disabled, Amir's business, Dapur Pak Amir, saw a five-fold increase in sales, allowing him to hire additional workers and expand his customer base beyond Malaysia, including buyers from Singapore. The event featured eight award categories, such as Best New Entrepreneur, Best Food Entrepreneur, Best Non-Food Entrepreneur, Best Frozen Product Entrepreneur, Best New PwD Entrepreneur, Inspiring Entrepreneur, Best Overall Entrepreneur, and Top 5 2024 Live Streaming Grand Finalists.
