PASIR PUTEH, Kelantan received an allocation of RM83.5 million from the Federal government for road infrastructure maintenance works in the state on April 2.
Kelantan Public Works, Infrastructure, Water and Rural Development committee chairman Datuk Dr Izani Husin said the allocation will be used to repair damaged roads identified throughout the state and is expected to be fully completed in June.
“The allocation this time is slightly less than last year’s RM104.4 million. Regardless, we will use it to repair damaged roads in all the colonies (districts) as needed after Aidilfitri.
“So far the allocation for periodic paving in the Gua Musang colony is the highest, involving 11 roads at an estimated cost of about RM10.7 million,” he said after an on-site visit to the Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu location at (Kampung) Bukit Yong in Pasir Puteh here today, which was also attended by director of Kelantan Public Works Department, Ir Mohd Suhaili Ismail.

s for maintenance under concession company RoadCare (M) Sdn Bhd while another RM6.5 million is to be utlised by the district engineer’s office.
“For the allocation under RoadCare, as much as RM44 million will be used for periodic pavement (road surfacing) maintenance, RM25.57 million for routine maintenance, RM5.42 million for non-pavement periodic maintenance, RM1.41 million for minor bridge repairs while RM0.544 million is for emergency work,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said a total of RM3.65 million will be allocated for modification of accident-prone areas in three colonies, namely six locations in Pasir Mas and two roads each in Tanah Merah and Kuala Krai.
According to him, as much as RM0.75 million will be used for pedestrian crossings with traffic lights at one location each in Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh.
In another development, Dr Izani informed that Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) was also on standby for the Aidilfitri festival by forming 100 teams to prepare generators in areas that have experi
enced power cuts in the state.
