Daro: Former state secretary Datuk Zulkifli Ali has been appointed president of the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIDAM), effective yesterday. MAIDAM chief executive officer Associate Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Azrin Adnan announced the appointment, noting that Zulkifli, aged 61, succeeds Datuk Shaikh Harun Shaikh Ismail, who has retired from the position.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zulkifli brings over 30 years of public service experience to MAIDAM. His extensive background is expected to enhance MAIDAM's mission of safeguarding, empowering, and upholding Islamic affairs and Malay customs in Terengganu, which is also called Darul Iman.
Zulkifli holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His career includes roles such as Comptroller of the Royal Household at Istana Terengganu and state financial officer before he retired as state secretary.
Dr Ahmad Azrin expressed confidence that Zulkifli's leadership will advance Islamic affairs in accordance with the state leadership's goals and the well-being of the ummah.
