Kuala kubu bharu: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is offering four diploma programmes at its training centres specifically for its personnel, announced the Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail. He highlighted that these diploma programmes, which include Police Management, Criminal Investigation, Internal Security, and Security Intelligence, have received accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the introduction of these programmes comes in response to increasingly complex security threats and the public’s rising expectations for PDRM to maintain the highest standards of service. The development of these educational initiatives aligns with PDRM’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025, which seeks to enhance professionalism and strengthen the force through continuous education and training. This effort aims to produce competent and credible officers, thereby improving the force’s image and boosting public confidence.
The announcement was made at the launch event for PDRM’s Diploma in Policing and the National Occupational Skills Standard at the PDRM College in Kuala Kubu Bharu. The event was attended by the Inspector-General’s deputy, Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, along with other top leaders from PDRM.
Mohd Khalid also mentioned that PDRM has developed additional programmes, such as the Division Operations Management (Policing) Skills programme (Level 4) and the Malaysian Advanced Skills Diploma in District Operations Management (Policing) (Level 5), which align with the National Occupational Skills Standard. These initiatives aim to transform the Sang Saka Biru into a more competent and excellent force.
Further, the Basic Detective Transition Course has been tailored to meet the National Occupational Skills Standard for Level II Detectives. This course involves detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, and the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, all designed to cultivate knowledgeable, highly skilled, and competitive personnel, ultimately aspiring to elevate the force as a world-class police agency.
