Melaka: The Melaka Tengah Wellness Hub in Alai officially opened on January 4 as a one-stop centre for health education, basic screening, counselling, and community programmes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Health Director Dr. Ruzita Mustaffa announced that this is the second facility of its kind in the state, following the Alor Gajah Wellness Hub, which was launched in 2014. The new RM800,000 hub boasts facilities such as a gymnasium, live and recording studios, a Malaysian Community Health Agent (MyCHAMPION) operations room, a Green and Creative Zone, and a health gallery.
Dr. Ruzita emphasized that the Wellness Hub serves as a comprehensive and integrated centre for wellness and health services, all offered free of charge to the local community. The facility is a part of the Ministry of Health's strategic shift from focusing on 'sick care' to 'health care', aiming to equip individuals with the skills necessary to manage their own health and that of their families and communities.
The Melaka Tengah Wellness Hub is accessible to the public from Monday to Friday, operating from 10 am to 7 pm. Dr. Ruzita encouraged the public to take advantage of the services available to enhance their health and overall well-being.
The Alor Gajah Wellness Hub has already shown significant success, with over 11,000 visitors utilizing its services last year.
