Kuala lumpur: The full report on the temporary structure collapse at the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project on Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) in Batu Caves is expected to be ready within two weeks, the Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma) said. Its secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof stated that relevant authorities, including the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, have visited the site and are collecting information before the report is finalized.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof explained that it would take about a week to a week and a half to obtain the report’s findings. Based on these findings, the next steps will be determined, which may involve court action or other measures. He emphasized the technical nature of the matter, highlighting the need to consider various aspects, including the legal context. The investigation will determine the cause of the incident, whether it was due to technical aspects or non-compliance with the scope.
Azman noted that any possibilities, including negligence, technical faults, or non-compliance with standard operating procedures, will be assessed once the investigation report is completed. He advised all parties involved in construction work to adhere to workplace safety regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Last Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad indicated that the collapse of the temporary structure was believed to have been caused by a collision involving the boom of the crane used for paint thickness inspections.
Regarding today’s program, Azman announced that Kampung Chembong Batu 17A and Kampung Air Hitam were selected as the ministry’s adopted villages, while SK Chembong was chosen as the adopted school.
