Gaza: Malaysia, UK Optimistic About Securing Swift Settlement

Gaza: Malaysia and the United Kingdom are quite optimistic about securing a settlement on the issue of Palestine and Gaza as soon as possible. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the matter was discussed during his meeting with his counterpart, Sir Keir Starmer, at No. 10 Downing Street here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated that discussions centered on achieving a resolution for the Palestine and Gaza issue, with the ultimate goal being a two-state solution. Prior to reaching this resolution, both leaders emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire. Anwar expressed his optimism about securing a settlement swiftly after their discussions.

Anwar’s criticism of Western countries’ lack of action against Israel’s actions in Gaza has garnered support from influential figures across various fields globally. Meanwhile, the government led by Starmer, which assumed power six months ago, has taken significant steps by suspending the sale of certain weapons to Israel and calling for accelerated humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank.

According to media reports, as of January 8, 2025, over 47,000 people have been reported killed since the war began in Gaza in October 2023.
