KUALA LUMPUR, The government has never increased the cost of haemodialysis treatment at Ministry of Health (MOH) facilities, said Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
In a Facebook post today, he clarified that the fee of RM13 per session, or typically RM169 per month for haemodialysis treatment provided three times a week, has remained unchanged since 2016.
Additionally, he said the cost for basic services at MOH facilities is still RM1, while specialist services cost RM5.
“An old viral message that claims Malaysia is moving towards ‘paid healthcare services’ has resurfaced. It must be emphasised that the Malaysian government, particularly under the Malaysia MADANI administration, has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to maintaining open access to healthcare services or #UniversalHealthcare.
‘The Unity Government has never increased the cost of haemodialysis treatment and has no plans to review any fees at this time,” he said, adding that the spread of such inaccurate and irresponsible messages shoul
d be stopped.
