Gov’t Urges Islamic Educational Institutions to Register for Aid and Monitoring

Perlis: The government is calling on more Islamic Educational Institutions (IPI) nationwide to register with the relevant authorities, to facilitate more organised and effective monitoring as well as the distribution of aid. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, emphasized the importance of this measure to ensure that each institution receives proper attention regarding safety, infrastructure, and student welfare.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli stated the necessity for IPI registration aligns with the increased national allocation of RM200 million for maintaining and upgrading religious schools. "Last year, the government allocated RM150 million for approximately 1,600 religious schools nationwide," he noted. This year, the additional RM50 million will enable more institutions to receive funds for building repair works, electrical rewiring, and classroom improvements, aiming to create a more comfortable and safe learning environment.

Furthermore, Dr Zulkifli mentioned that the government allocated RM157,800 last year for maintenance and facility upgrades at Maahad Attarbiyah Al Islamiyah (MATRI) in Beseri. The upgrades, including improvements to the electrical wiring system and refurbishment of classrooms, are already benefiting the school community. This initiative reflects the government's commitment, rooted in the Malaysia MADANI spirit, to ensure that IPIs nationwide are comprehensively strengthened and remain competitive.
