Harmony Parade To Celebrate Malaysia’s Ethnic Unity Scheduled for February

Kuala Lumpur: A Harmony Parade to celebrate the ethnic diversity and unity of society in Malaysia will take place on February 15-16, announced National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang today. The parade is scheduled to be held at night at Dataran Merdeka in conjunction with Federal Territories Day and World Interfaith Harmony Week.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aaron expressed hope that the event would have a comprehensive and significant impact on the community, involving various agencies and representatives of different religions. He shared these insights during an appearance on Bernama’s ‘Ruang Bicara’ TV programme. Further details about the parade will be announced at a later date. This event is part of the ministry’s MADANI Harmony Initiative, a key focus of the ministry this year.

The Ministry of National Unity is also pursuing other main initiatives, including the Unity Ecosystem, the Exploration of the Rukun Negara, and the Socio-Cultural Community. These initiatives aim to strengthen the social fabric of the nation.

Meanwhile, Aaron, who is also the Kanowit Member of Parliament, commented on a fire in Kanowit that destroyed the Paulus Yan Longhouse in Sungai Buan. He plans to visit the site to offer assistance to the 88 affected residents through the Student Volunteer Foundation and his office.

Earlier, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sibu Zone chief Andy Alie reported that all occupants of the 15-door longhouse on Jalan Nibong Tada escaped the blaze without casualties. The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses are under investigation. The Sarawak JBPM operations centre was alerted at 12.14 pm, and the fire was brought under control by 2 pm, with the operation concluding at 4.50 pm.
