ICTSI Elite Junior Finals Begins in Laguna with North vs. South Golf Duel


Manila: The ICTSI Elite Junior Finals, featuring 48 top junior golfers from Luzon (North) and Visayas-Mindanao (South), commenced at The Country Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The tournament, which mirrors the Ryder Cup format, has players competing in Four-Ball on the first day, Foursomes on the second, and Singles matches on the final day.



According to Philippines News Agency, Team North co-captain Ryan Tambalque emphasized strategic play, advising his players to focus on keeping the ball in the fairway and hitting greens in regulation during the Four-Ball format. The boys’ 7-10 division started from the first tee, followed by the 11-14 and 15-18 divisions, while the girls’ teams teed off from the 10th.



Tambalque expressed confidence in his players, highlighting their strength and independent training. He believes they will perform well regardless of pairings. Team South skipper Alfred Gaccion, meanwhile, is relying on his team’s talent and experience, noting the strong lineup in the girls’ 15-18 division, which includes Tashanah Balangauan, Crista Mi±oza, Precious Zaragosa, and Mikela Guillermo.



Team North’s girls’ 15-18 division, featuring Rafa Anciano, Levonne Talion, Tiffany Bernardino, and Chloe Rada, presents a formidable challenge as well. Gaccion stressed the importance of teamwork, particularly in the Four-Ball and Foursomes formats, as the key to overcoming any disadvantage.



Tambalque also highlighted the camaraderie within Team North, developed through regular tournaments and shared training experiences. He noted the strong rapport among players and parents as a significant advantage.



The complete rosters for Team North and Team South include promising young talents across various age divisions. These players are set to compete fiercely in the prestigious tournament, showcasing their skills and teamwork in pursuit of victory.
