Kuala lumpur: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has called on Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel to continue embracing three key focus areas outlined by the force as the foundation for carrying out duties throughout 2026 to ensure national security remains safeguarded.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the IGP emphasized the importance of optimising artificial intelligence (AI) technology in law enforcement operations, strengthening professionalism and integrity among personnel as a bulwark against corruption and abuse of power, and prioritising public well-being. He underscored the necessity of aligning these priorities with the Malaysia MADANI principle, which focuses on responsibility and empathy, aiming to improve welfare across all societal levels for the common good.
In his New Year 2026 message, Mohd Khalid expressed hope that the onset of the new year would act as a catalyst for renewing collective resolve and commitment. He urged the force to further strengthen its dedication to protecting the nation's sovereignty with full dedication.
Reflecting on PDRM's achievements in 2025, Mohd Khalid noted that the year presented significant challenges that tested the force's preparedness and resilience. These included handling prestigious international events like the Asia International Security Summit and Expo (AISSE'25) and the PDRM Special Dialogue (PSD), which highlighted PDRM's commitment to enhancing collaborative networks and sharing best practices with international security agencies.
The successful security management during the 47th ASEAN Summit in October, which featured key world leaders including the President of the United States, was cited as a testament to PDRM's professionalism and credibility on the global stage.
Meanwhile, Mohd Khalid reiterated PDRM's commitment to conducting investigations with transparency, fairness, and prudence, free from interference by vested interests. He stated that this approach is crucial for upholding the truth, dispelling sceptical perceptions, and achieving excellent performance through efficient investigations and case resolutions.
