Putrajaya: An illegal agent offering fake immigration services to foreigners was detained in a special operation by the Immigration Department around Putrajaya on Tuesday. Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban reported that the suspect was providing services related to the Special Pass and Ikhtisas Visit Pass to Indian nationals in the Klang Valley, charging between RM400 and RM1,500 per transaction.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspect was found with eight Indian passports and a mobile phone. Additionally, a Honda CRV used in their activities was seized. Datuk Zakaria Shaaban mentioned that the suspect had no approval from the Immigration Department or any authority letter representing employers to manage foreigners’ passports.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect had been apprehended in 2024 for a similar offence and was punished. The current investigation is being conducted under Section 12(1)(f) of the Passport Act 1966. Another local man associated with the suspect has been issued a notice to assist with the investigations.
