Trang: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is leading Malaysia’s delegation to the Chief Ministers and Governors’ Forum (CMGF) of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), held in Trang, Thailand, beginning yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Rosdy stated that the trust placed in him to head the Malaysian delegation reflects recognition of Pahang at the ASEAN and international levels. He emphasized that the forum offers an opportunity for countries to share views, address common challenges, and chart future directions.
IMT-GT, established in 1993, has been a crucial platform to enhance regional cooperation in economic development, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability, he mentioned in a Facebook post. The Malaysian delegation also stressed the importance of strengthening infrastructure, digital transformation, sustainable development, and people-to-people connectivity.
Wan Rosdy highlighted five key development projects in Pahang, including transit
-oriented development and economic accelerator projects at seven stations along the East Coast Rail Link. He also discussed positioning Gebeng as a regional Halal Industrial Park, and the development of Wagyu beef and dairy industries.
Furthermore, he focused on promoting ‘Visit Pahang’ in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and the development of Lipis Geopark towards UNESCO Global Geopark recognition. He believes that these initiatives are essential for making the region more competitive, inclusive, and prosperous. With cooperation from all parties, IMT-GT can unlock the full potential of the region for the well-being of the people and future generations.
