Jelajah Bijak W.A.N.G 2026 Launches to Boost Financial Literacy Among Malaysian Youth and B40

Kuala lumpur: Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB) today launched the Jelajah Bijak W.A.N.G 2026 initiative, aiming to enhance financial literacy among Malaysian youth and the B40 community. This nationwide initiative is designed to be inclusive and interactive, aligning with the aspiration to create a financially resilient society.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative, conducted through the mySalam scheme, will span 12 months. The launch ceremony was officiated by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, also the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai. The programme is a result of strategic collaboration with organizations including the Financial Education Network (FEN), the Malaysian Takaful Association, FINCO, and Peka B40.

Syuhaib Ithnin, head of the mySalam Scheme at Great Eastern Takaful, explained that Bijak W.A.N.G. stands for empowering financial literacy, based on four principles: Waspada (Alert), Atur (Manage), Nilai (Value), and Guna (Use). These principles encourage careful use of digital financial services, promote planning through budgeting and savings, and advocate for responsible debt management.

“It also protects financial futures with risk protection such as mySalam and takaful for health, income, and family,” Syuhaib stated.

Jelajah Bijak W.A.N.G builds on the success of last year’s Bijak Wang Challenge and aligns with the National Financial Literacy Strategy 2026-2030 (NS2.0). The programme also addresses issues like the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) trend and personal loans, which have contributed to rising bankruptcy cases among youth under 30.

Since its inception in 2019, the mySalam program has supported over 1.83 million members, with claims amounting to RM1.33 billion as of November 30. The deadline for claiming eligibility for 2025 benefits is June 30, 2026.
