JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor Immigration Department arrested 75 foreigners on various offences in multiple operations here and in the Iskandar Puteri district from Sunday to Monday. Its director, Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus, stated that an enforcement team raided 28 restaurants and food courts in Pasir Gudang and Desa Cemerlang in the district. They checked 133 foreigners and locals in different operations over two days, acting on public tip-offs that these premises were employing illegal immigrants. According to BERNAMA News Agency, those detained include 10 Myanmar men and seven Myanmar women, 19 Indonesian men and 26 Indonesian women, three Bangladeshi men, three Indian men, and a Nepali man, aged between 18 to 58. They are believed to have committed offences under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, along with Regulations 11(b), 39(b), and 11(7)(a) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. A total of 13 notices to appear at the Immigration Office were issued to facilitate further investiga tions. Meanwhile, in Iskandar Puteri, a joint operation resulted in the arrest of seven foreigners, comprising five Myanmar men, an Indonesian man, and an Indonesian woman, aged 21 to 45. A total of ten premises were raided, and 76 foreigners and locals were checked, with seven arrested. These individuals are believed to have committed offences under the same sections of the Immigration Act as those arrested in Pasir Gudang and Desa Cemerlang. Three additional notices to appear at the Immigration Office were issued during this operation to aid in the investigation process.
