KANGAR, March 3 (Bernama) — The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today presented donations to the Perlis Welfare and Charity Association (Rumah Teduh) through the Kasih@Bernama programme, Mydin Prihatin.

Bernama Corporate Affair Division senior executive M.Suherman Anuar said under the news agency’s strategic cooperation programme with Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (Mydin Berhad), necessities worth RM2,000 and a further RM8,000 in Mydin Prihatin vouchers were provided to the care centre.

“Bernama’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme with Mydin Berhad is carried out in conjunction with the Jom Kenali Bernama campaign,” he told Bernama when met at the centre today.

Bernama also donated reading materials such as children’s books and novels contributed by the public through the Bernama Digital Library, he added.

He said that the donations would be able to help support the centre’s operations and its residents.

Meanwhile, Rumah Teduh manager, Harisun Abdul Rahman thanked Bernama and Mydin Berhad for their concern to provide food items used by residents there.

“We urgently need aid such as food (including rice, eggs and cooking oil) to continue our operation. The residents consist of our target group, namely orphans, children of abuse victims, school dropouts, domestic violence victims,” she said.

Harisun said Rumah Teduh currently has 36 occupants, aged between four and 18.
