Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will obtain a detailed report before issuing any statement or taking a position on the issues affecting the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said KBS would also not interfere in any process that does not fall under its jurisdiction in relation to the matter.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohammed Taufiq emphasized the importance of understanding the separation of powers, highlighting the need to review and wait for the report and decisions before making any further statements. He assured that KBS continuously monitors issues within all sports associations, not just FAM, and will take appropriate action within its purview.
Speaking to reporters after presenting the Compassionate Financial Aid (BWI) to flood victims, Dr Mohammed Taufiq addressed reports alleging that the FAM Executive Committee might resign en masse soon. He reiterated KBS's commitment to the development of football in Malaysia, emphasizing its role in promoting national unity.
Dr Mohammed Taufiq assured that KBS would ensure no disruption to the development of football and would scrutinize any arising issues. However, he acknowledged the ministry's limits and emphasized respecting the boundaries of their jurisdiction. He also expressed KBS's readiness to assist any sports association, provided it falls under the ministry's jurisdiction.
