Kota bharu: The Kelantan government has unveiled a comprehensive action plan to mitigate the risk of flooding within the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction area.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud stated that the government has been informed by ECRL about the implementation of drainage systems designed to ensure efficient water flow and prevent water stagnation. He emphasized that only specific locations within the ECRL construction zone have been identified as flood-prone, particularly in areas like Pasir Puteh.
Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin shared these updates following an agreement signing ceremony for the Sukuk Wakalah Issuance Programme valued at RM300 million. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Islamic Banking Group and Maybank Islamic Berhad’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohamad Yasin Abdullah.
Mohamad Yasin Abdullah expressed pride in the collaboration with Permodalan Kelantan Berhad (PKB) to develop the Sustainable Finance Framework, which underpins the Sukuk issuance. He highlighted the initiative as a testament to their commitment to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles within Malaysia’s capital market. He further emphasized that sustainable development hinges on the collaboration between public and private sectors and that the success of such partnerships leads to the creation of competitive financial instruments with social and economic advantages for the populace.
