Kelantan JPJ Collects RM9.02 Million In Fines From Enforcement Ops In Jan-Nov 2025

Kota bharu: The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) collected RM9.02 million in compound fines from January to November last year following the implementation of various enforcement operations statewide. Its director, Mohd Misuari Abdullah, stated that the total collection of RM9,022,105 marked an increase of RM520,785, or 5.55 percent, compared with RM8.50 million recorded during the same period in 2024.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the increase was partly driven by a 50 percent compound reduction initiative, as well as the introduction of the government’s Budi MADANI RON95 programme. Throughout 2025, the Kelantan JPJ carried out various enforcement operations, including Ops Pemandu Warga Asing (PEWA), Ops RoadToo/Tunggak, special operations for Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha, Ops Lejang, Ops Bus Seatbelt Enforcement, Ops Speed Limitation Device (SLD), Ops Overloading, Ops Eastern Zone Cross-Border, and Ops Luxury Vehicles.

As a result of these operations, 200,076
vehicles were inspected, with action taken against 58,541 vehicles. During the same period, Kelantan JPJ issued 116,183 notices for various offences, comprising 94,447 summons notices, 5,675 inspection notices, 2,801 investigation interview notices, 671 notices requiring driver details under Section 115, and 12,589 notices for other offences. Additionally, 491 vehicles were seized for various violations.

Mohd Misuari reported that 32,455 cases were brought to court in 2025. Of these, 32,423 cases involved offences under the Road Transport Act 1987, generating RM2.44 million in revenue, while 32 cases under the Land Public Transport Act (APAD) 2010 recorded collections of RM56,500. He noted that the number of vehicles acted against last year declined slightly by 331 vehicles, or 0.56 percent, compared with 2024. However, he emphasized that road user awareness and compliance must continue to be strengthened.

He concluded that enforcement is not solely about punishment but aims to educate and raise awareness a
mong road users for the safety of all. This approach aligns with JPJ’s target to reduce road fatalities by 50 percent by 2030.
