Kelantan MMEA Deploys Air Assets in Search for Missing Tumpat Senior Citizen


Tumpat: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a senior citizen who has been missing in the waters off Tumpat since Sunday has been expanded to cover an area of 412.15 square nautical miles in Kelantan waters. Kelantan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director Maritime Captain Erwan Shah Soahdi stated that the operation, now in its third day, utilizes MMEA maritime and air assets. The SAR operation is a collaborative effort involving various security agencies, including the Marine Police Force, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, and Civil Defence Force, with additional assistance from the Royal Thai Marine Police and local fishermen.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, the missing individual, Ahmad Hussin, aged 71, is believed to have departed alone from Kampung Tanjung Kuala, Tumpat, in a private boat for a fishing trip at approximately 7.30 am. He has not returned home since. The MMEA has emphasized the seriousness of the incident and has committed to intensifying search efforts by expanding the operational area as needed.



The public, particularly the fishing community, is urged to report any information related to the incident or any potential clues by contacting the 24-hour emergency line 999 or the nearest MMEA Operations Centre.
