Kota bharu: The Kelantan government needs to leverage Visit Malaysia 2026 to promote high-potential tourism products, including urban, cultural, historical heritage, arts, gastronomy, coastal, eco-agro, and geo-tourism, said Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, His Royal Highness emphasized the role of the people of Kelantan, known for their warmth and hospitality, in elevating community-based tourism (CBT) as the state’s future tourism product. He called for strengthened cooperation between communities, local authorities, the government, and the private sector to enhance CBT. The Sultan noted that the industry’s success hinges on innovative ideas that can attract tourists.
The Ruler also underscored the importance of improving cleanliness, landscape beauty, and public amenities. He pointed out that local authorities play a crucial role in ensuring tourist areas are well-managed, clean, and visitor-friendly, which in turn enhances the state’s image as a desirable destination for both domestic and international tourists.
In addition, Sultan Muhammad V praised the state government’s efforts to empower Kelantan’s younger generation as a driving force for the state’s and nation’s future. He expressed hope that these efforts would continue, focusing on developing a youth ecosystem in leadership, entrepreneurship, and digital technology while addressing social issues such as drug abuse.
The Sultan also commended the state government’s initiative to make Kelantan the first state to enforce a ban on the sale of vape and shisha since 2015. He conveyed his deepest appreciation to enforcement agencies for their cooperation in implementing the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024.
