Keluarga Malaysia Sales Programme records RM7.8 mln sales in 274 locations

KUALA BERANG, Jan 15 — The Keluarga Malaysia Sales Programme (PJKM), which started last Dec 2 and attracted some 426,305 visitors at 274 locations nationwide had recorded sales of RM7.8 million.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs deputy minister Datuk Rosol Wahid said the data proved that the initiative was very significant in helping people, especially the low-income households (B40) to get various daily necessities at cheaper prices.

“For example, chicken is priced at RM7.80 and this proves the government has fulfilled its promise to reduce the price of chicken to below RM8.The selling price at the PJKM is cheaper because the goods are obtained directly from the wholesalers.

“The initiative continued to receive a positive reaction from the people as it eases the financial burden of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and floods that hit the country recently,” he told reporters after inspecting the PJKM for Hulu Terengganu parliamentary constituency at the Ajil Trade Centre here today.

Asked if the initiative would be expanded to state constituencies following the encouraging response, Rosol said the matter needed to be discussed in more detail due to various factors.

“The organising of PJKM needs commitment and willingness of the wholesalers and retailers involved in terms of logistics, manpower and stock of goods. If it is done too often, there may be an impact on retailers in the area,” he said.
