King, Queen convey condolences to Syed Razak’s family

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his condolences to the family of the former Menteri Besar of Kedah Datuk Seri Syed Razak Syed Zain, who died yesterday.

Also conveying her condolences was the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

According to a post on Istana Negara Facebook, Their Majesties expressed sadness over the demise of Syed Razak and hoped his family would be patient and resolute in facing this moment of grief.

“Their Majesties also prayed for Allah to have mercy on his soul and place him among the righteous and the pious,” the post read.

Syed Razak, 79, who died at about 11 am yesterday due to health problems, was the eighth Kedah MB and had provided great service to the community and the state.

The former Kubang Rotan state assemblyman, served as Kedah MB from 1999 to 2005 before resigning due to health problems during the tenure of then Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
