K’tan Sets Zakat Fitrah Rate At RM10 This Year

Kota bharu: The Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) has set the zakat fitrah rate for this year at RM10. Its president, Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz, announced that individuals who wish to make a payment of RM22, based on the price of the rice commonly consumed, are encouraged to do so.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the zakat fitrah and zakat harta determinations have received the consent of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, as the Head of Islam in the state, as outlined under Article 6 (1) of the Constitution of the Kelantan state government. The nisab rate for wealth zakat is RM37,401 for assets held between Ramadan 1447H and Ramadan 1448H.

Tengku Mohamad Rizam stated that zakat payments can be made through the Baitulmal counter services at city and district mosques or via the MAIK portal at zakat.e-maik.my. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from all parties to adhere to this decree and to enliven Ramadan 1447H with righteous deeds and the responsibility of paying zakat as mandated.
