According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Ewon Benedick emphasized his focus on the Kadamaian area, which he has been familiar with since 2018. He noted the active nature of traditional tamu markets in the area during weekdays. With the completion of 22 premises in Kadamaian, including the Tambulion Laut Tamu Desa, the initiative has benefitted small traders, tamu entrepreneurs, and visitors alike.
The premises were constructed with an allocation of approximately RM300,000 by KUSKOP. Ewon stated that the new facility will allow existing tamu entrepreneurs and roadside traders to relocate to a designated premise, providing a more organized business environment. He also mentioned that the tamu desa in Kampung Tambulion Laut is held every Tuesday and expressed confidence that the new facility will enhance the local economy and encourage entrepreneurship among residents.
Ewon expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the government’s ongoing commitment, highlighted in Budget 2026, which allocated an additional RM20 million for Tamu Desa projects next year. He noted the continued demand from rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak to implement Tamu Desa projects to upgrade existing facilities that are vital to local economies.
Ewon added that the facility serves multiple purposes, including community center activities like weekly Teman TEKUN meetings, government agency programs, and various community events. He emphasized that the project is a catalyst for rural economic growth and contributes to the well-being of local communities.
