KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) — Lazada Malaysia is joining Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) fundraising effort to raise RM2.3 million for more than 40,000 beneficiaries from low-income families and the underprivileged community.
The beneficiaries will receive Rezeki Ramadan food packs consisting of basic food supplies and daily essentials as part of its social impact initiative through LazadaForGood, which is Lazada’s digital giving platform.
In a statement here today, Lazada Malaysia chief operating officer Darren Rajaratnam said that the partnership with IRM will help society to progress and that it was also a good engagement for Lazada shoppers in a meaningful way.
“By launching this initiative alongside our Ramadan Sale during this holy month, we hope to encourage the shoppers to join in the efforts that contribute towards social well-being and give back to the community in need,” said Darren
Meanwhile, IRM chief executive officer Zairulshahfuddin Zainal Abidin said that Ramadan and Syawal are the time for IRM to double its effort to deliver humanitarian aid to the underprivileged community.
“The opportunity to collaborate again with Lazada Malaysia is profoundly meaningful for IRM and the impact will be far-reaching.
“The donations will help to fund thousands of Rezeki Ramadan food packs that consist of food supplies such as rice, flour, canned food, cooking oil, sugar, dates and daily essentials for buka puasa (breaking of fast) and sahur (predawn meal),” said Zairulshahfuddin.
Donors can participate by going to LazadaForGood online platform and simply selecting the IRM and choosing the donation amounts options of RM5, RM10, RM20, RM30, RM50, RM100 or more.
For Rezeki Ramadan, mySedekah or local emergency relief just add to the donation cart and check out. The donation will then be channelled to the funds that IRM is raising.
Members of the public can also donate to other Lazada fundraising through MyFundAction, UNICEF, and other NGOs on LazadaForGood via https://s.lazada.com.my/s.eKYQu.
