LPP sends 73 SKU of agro-based products to Expo 2020 Dubai

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 — The Farmers Organisation Authority (LPP) has sent 73 stock keeping units (SKU) of agro-based products to be promoted in conjunction with the Sustainable Agriculture Week at the Malaysia Pavilion, 2020 Dubai Expo from Feb 20 to 26.

Its chairman, Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi said LPP and the National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) sent these items to introduce agro-based quality products under the ‘Peladang’ (Farmers) brand at the international level.

“Among the products to be promoted are frozen satay, kelulut honey, food pastes, ready-to-eat food, snacks, juices as well as swiftlet-based products such as bird’s nest coffee,” he said at the launching ceremony of the ‘Peladang’ products here today for Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Che Abdullah said the agency’s participation in the expo would help explore business opportunities abroad and also potential business ventures through the ‘Peladang’ brand.

“Hopefully, this initiative will give positive returns and have a positive impact on LPP and potential farming entrepreneurs,” he said.

Meanwhile, NAFAS Business Management Group senior manager, Baharozaman Mohid said that at the expo, it look into forming joint ventures with industry players in the Middle Eastern countries in an effort to market ready-to-cook chicken products at the expo.

“Although the tastes in the Middle East are quite different, I am confident that with this joint-venture effort, (we) can adapt (the products) to the demand there. We are targeting these products to penetrate this market in the future,” he said at a special press conference.

LPP director-general Datuk Azulita Salim, who was also present, said the agency and NAFAS would sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lulu International Hypermarket and hoped that through the MoU, the “Peladang’ brand could be expanded to the next level.

“Hopefully, we can help the brand’s products penetrate the international market,” she added.
