Riyadh: Malaysia's involvement in the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), based in Saudi Arabia, underscores its commitment to enhancing international collaboration to combat security threats such as terrorism and extremism, as stated by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. Malaysia aims to curb deviant ideologies and threats from non-state actors that could jeopardize security and stability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Khaled shared these insights in a social media post, where he also discussed his meeting with two Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officers, Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Shah Othman and Analysis Officer Major Zainudin Abu Hasan, who are currently serving at the IMCTC during his working visit to Riyadh. He expressed gratitude for their dedication and professionalism in maintaining Malaysia's reputation and contributing to regional and global security efforts.
Earlier media reports indicate that Khaled has been in Saudi Arabia on a working visit since last Saturday. His itinerary includes signing a defence cooperation agreement between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, holding bilateral talks with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, and attending the World Defence Show (WDS) 2026.
