MIA Unveils Sustainability Framework to Enhance Accountancy Profession’s Future

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has introduced the MIA Sustainability Framework and Strategy Plan, which is a central part of the Institute’s agenda to embed sustainability within its operations and bolster the future relevance of the accountancy profession.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MIA Sustainability Agenda employs a dual approach that promotes sustainability both for the accountancy profession and the Institute itself. The MIA Sustainability Blueprint for the Accountancy Profession (Sustainability Blueprint) is focused on external sustainability advocacy, while the MIA Sustainability Framework and Strategy Plan (Sustainability Framework) aims to incorporate sustainability internally within the Institute. Additionally, the MIA Sustainability Roadmap (Roadmap) outlines advocacy initiatives and timelines for implementing the Sustainability Blueprint. The five-year Roadmap, approved by the MIA Council in January 2025, includes 169 targeted initiatives managed by 16 committees to ensure coordinated and functional execution.
