Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang today said the Open Science Platform (MOSP) launched today will focus on strengthening the open science ecosystem in the country.

He said the MOSP will provide open science guidelines, capacity building and awareness programmes, and develop the infrastructure for research data sharing.

“MOSP adopts the FAIR principle of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

“Research projects that are conducted with public funds should be able to be accessed and reused by others to increase the return of value,” he said in his speech at the launch of MOSP by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof here today.

Meanwhile MOSTI in its statement distributed at the event said with the launch of MOSP, the practice of open science will be an essential building block in the research and development ecosystem that will pave a new future for the research landscape in Malaysia.

According to the statement, MOSP which can be accessed via mosp.gov.my is a raw research data-sharing platform initiated by MOSTI.

The pilot initiative has been managed by Akademi Sains Malaysia (ASM) since 2019.
