MRCS urged to plan programme, activities for community’s benefit

IPOH, Oct 11 — The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) at state and district levels have been urged to plan programmes or activities that will be of benefit to the local community.

MRCS national chairperson, Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah said with regard to the objective, a working paper should be prepared to be presented to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) for due consideration and approval.

“I would like to inform that the national headquarters are in the process of finalising its 2030 Strategy for the approval of the National Council. I hope we can achieve this for the development of MRCS,” she said.

Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz said this during a visit to Perak state MRCS which was also attended by Perak MRCS chairman Datuk Mohd Rafiai Moktar at Dewan Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah in Jalan Kompleks Sukan here today.

Meanwhile, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz expressed her gratitude to Perak MRCS volunteers for their humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

She noted that the COVID-19 pandemic that has been plaguing the country and the world in the past two years has had a huge impact on the lifestyle and economy of the community.

“The Perak MRCS has also provided ambulance standby services at a vaccination centre (PPV) in Ipoh and a mobile PPV in Kinta district, including at an Orang Asli village since last June till December,” she said.
