Muhammad Ridwan Ready To Step In For Brother At ACC Philippines

Kuala lumpur: National men's track cyclist Muhammad Ridwan Sahrom is ready to shoulder the medal-hunting mission in place of his brother Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom at the Asian Cycling Championships (ACC) in the Philippines this March. He has been named to replace Muhammad Shah in the sprint and keirin events alongside Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, and is targeting medals in both individual events.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Ridwan, better known as 'Boy', is aiming for a top-five finish in the individual events and hopes to secure a medal if the opportunity arises. He expressed his determination to prove himself in the individual categories, having previously focused on team events. Despite his brother's absence due to a knee injury, Ridwan is committed to delivering his best performance.

Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom will not be competing at the ACC Philippines as he has only recently recovered from a knee injury sustained last year. Meanwhile, the national squad is set to depart for Melbourne, Australia next week to prepare for the ACC Philippines. The national sprint squad will feature Mohd Azizulhasni and Muhammad Ridwan, while the men's team sprint line-up includes Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis, Mohamad Akmal Nazimi Jusena, and Muhammad Ridwan.

For the women's squad, the team sprint event will involve Anis Amira Rosidi, Nurul Aliana Syafika Azizan, Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri, and Nur Alyssa Mohd Farid.
